Politeness and respect are part of any culture.
I have good friends here and I can count them on my fingers.  
I have many chessmates, just chessmates and nothing more.
I hate it when a member, on first contact, treats me with intimacy, as if I were an old acquaintance.
First contacts have to be formal and not informal.
Words like Madam, Miss, Sir are meant to be used.
