Thank you for joining, the purpose of this forum is for introductions, story and you goals with chess.

I'm from NSW Australia and have been playing chess since i was 7 years old. Throughout schooling i was in the chess club and was able to win 1st place in the school district for several years. I am now over 30 years old and have decided to start taking my journey seriously and aim to be a IM (International Master).

There is no secrete formula to become a great chess player and it will take hard work but there are some key things you can do to help your journey:

- Play alot of chess (different timed gamed but best over 5 minutes)

- study 1 or 2 openings as black and white

- practise endgames (this is the key to getting easy points and the higher rating you become the more chance you will be left with very complex and simple endgames an if you know how to get the win or hold the draw you will begin to flourish as a chess player!)

- Pattern recognition (focus on puzzles and understand the board after a few moments glance)

- Advanced techniques for foresight and visualization is to play blindfold games. This can be started by easy endgame studies to full games where you are only aware of piece movements and will help with your notation and visualisation.
